One fun and uplifting black Gospel song that I've enjoyed in concert (as well as led in a church setting) is "Better" by the Dove award-winner Hezekiah Walker. The melody and chord progression are very straight-forward. However, as with many black Gospel songs, a strong and confident vocal ensemble and an active bass line are integral to carrying it through. Also, a solid keyboard and/or brass ensemble would help. Lastly, be sure not to miss the half-step key change near the end!
