Happy Thanksgiving!
Here's a little tip for younger worship leaders. Suppose your senior pastor references a song during a sermon. If you know it, involve it soon (maybe a postlude?). If you don't know the song, investigate it with fervor. That's how I got to know the song "Grateful."
I was still early in my education about black Gospel music, but, after I heard my pastor reference this song, I studied it, and we played it the next Thanksgiving Eve service. And it could work year-round! It's a simple song, but, every once in a while, the chord progression will surprise sight-readers. The harmonies on the bridge may need some more attention. Lastly, it was hard for me to play it at recording tempo. Video and lyrics below:
I am grateful for the things that you have done Yes, I'm grateful for the victories we've won I could go on and on and on about you works Because I'm grateful, grateful, so grateful just to praise you lord
Flowing from my heart are the issues of my heart, it's gratefulness
Grateful, Grateful, Grateful, Grateful,
Grateful, Grateful, Grateful, Grateful,
Grateful, Grateful, Grateful, Gratefulness It's flowing from my heart
