Camille McKnight, known professionally as Camille G. Brown, about whom I've posted before, is a singer and songwriter. She is also the daughter of the (retired) senior pastor of my first multicultural church, where she directs the gospel choir. I had the privilege of working with her for seasonal choirs and she helped me, as a newbie to multicultural ministry, learn a lot about black Gospel music.
Her new song, "I Remember," is a pleasant song with the juicy chords of black Gospel and the smooth background beat of hip-hop. The song has been making the rounds from Camille's metro Chicago home to Houston and Alaska. The lyrics personally remind me of how the Israelites remembered God's blessings and faithfulness to strengthen them through difficult times.
