I always knew that Kirk Franklin and Maverick City Music would be an amazing team. Franklin is my favorite Gospel songwriter and has great choir leadership skills. Maverick City Music are also good songwriters and shown themselves to be great collaborators, both having and working with some of the best vocalists in Christian music. It should be no surprise, then, that Maverick City Music showed a pastoral presence at the Grammy's last week (having helped Quavo honor his departed friend Takeoff), and also, with Kirk Franklin, they won four more Grammy Awards, two of which for songs.
Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin were awarded the Grammy for Best Gospel Performance/Song for "Kingdom," one of the songs recorded in a prison in Miami.
They were also awarded the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for "Fear Is Not My Future," recorded at Mother Emanuel AMEC in Charleston, SC, honoring the victims of the shooting.
Either of these songs would work well in a church service, anytime.
