Chief Johnny P. Curtis is a singer/songwriter of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. He has been involved in both Native American music and gospel music since the 1970's. One song that caught my attention was "Where Eagles Fly." Seemingly based on Isaiah 40, it has a straight-forward chord progression and a singable melody, very doable in a church service. Lyrics below:
He gave the power to faith To them that have no minds He shall increase their strength The youth shall dwell where eagles fly Oh where eagles fly, oh where eagles fly
'Cause where the caucus is That's where the eagles gather In the power of His mind My people dwell where eagles fly Oh where eagles fly, oh where eagles fly
They who have withered off Shall renew their strength They shall mount with wings They shall fly where eagles fly Oh where eagles fly, oh where eagles fly
I'll show you a mystery We shall all sleep In a twinkling of an eye We shall be changed and we shall fly Oh, as eagles fly, oh we shall fly Oh, as eagles fly
